Technology

Vasculite

Reduction of visible blood vessels and precise removal of small skin lesions.

532 nm diode laser · thread veins and skin lesions

A specific lesion, a specific plan

Vasculite is a 532 nm diode laser. We use it mostly on visible blood vessels: dilated thread veins on the face, fine leg veins and cherry angiomas. Pulsed mode lets us close fine vessels precisely, including on delicate areas of the face, while continuous mode is used to remove lesions such as skin tags, viral warts and enlarged sebaceous glands. We also use the laser on solar lentigines.

This treatment is for someone with a specific concern who wants it resolved, rather than for someone looking for a general improvement in skin condition. We give the price and the plan only after we have examined the lesion, because both depend on its type, size and number.

What people most often come to us with

Dilated capillaries

Telangiectasia on the face, the sides of the nose and the cheeks, and small leg veins.

Cherry angiomas

Red, raised dots that most often appear on the trunk with age.

Skin tags

Small skin protrusions, usually on the neck, eyelids and under the arms.

Viral warts

Lesions on the hands and feet. In this area we also work together with our podiatry team.

Solar lentigines

Flat brown spots that appear with age and after years of sun exposure, most often on the face and hands.

Enlarged sebaceous glands

Yellowish bumps, most often on the forehead and the cheeks.

What the visit looks like

  1. 01

    Examination and qualification

We examine the lesion on site. We do not qualify skin lesions on the basis of photographs or a description over the phone.

  2. 02

    The quote

We give the price after examining the lesion, because it depends on its type, size and number.

  3. 03

    Anaesthesia, if needed

For some treatments we use a local anaesthetic cream.

  4. 04

    The treatment

We remove the lesion point by point. Single lesions usually take a few minutes.

  5. 05

    Aftercare

You receive the instructions in writing. A scab forms at the treated spot and it should come off on its own.

  6. 06

    Follow-up

We arrange a follow-up visit where we assess the healing and decide whether a repeat treatment is needed.

What we do not do and when we refer you to a doctor

There are situations in which we will not perform the treatment. We take this seriously, because skin lesions can be a symptom of disease.

  • We do not remove pigmented moles. Such lesions require assessment by a doctor and histopathological examination
  • We do not qualify lesions on the basis of photographs, a phone description or a message
  • Lesions that grow, change colour or shape, bleed or itch are referred to a dermatologist before any treatment
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Active skin infections and active cold sores in the treatment area
  • Fresh tan, including from a sunbed or self-tanner
  • Taking photosensitising medication, including isotretinoin
  • Cancer and conditions after cancer treatment without the consent of the treating doctor
  • Clotting disorders and anticoagulant treatment
  • A tendency to keloid scarring

This list is not exhaustive. We assess every lesion individually during the free consultation. If we decide that a lesion needs to be assessed by a doctor, we will say so plainly and we will not perform the treatment.

Frequently asked questions

We will tell you whether it can be removed

The consultation is free. We will examine the lesion, tell you plainly whether it is suitable for treatment, and give you the price. If we decide it needs a doctor's assessment, we will tell you that too.
